FAU-G an Indian made war game was announced first in September last year, and has recorded over 2 million downloads in just 3hours of going live. Currently available only on Android platform to start with, the game already has over 41,000 reviews with 4.6 star rating on Google Play Store. The new game debuted just in a couple of days after the government banned PUBG Mobile and PUBG Mobile Lite in India. FAU-G became an Indian substitute for PUBG that is published by Bengaluru-based nCore games, and Indian game industry veteran Vishal Gondal and actor Akshay Kumar have also taken to twitter to promote FAU-G and tweets where promoting the game by saying it will donate 20 percent of its revenue to the government’s fund-raising initiative Bharat Ke Veer. FAU-G is short for Fearless and United-Guards, is conceptualized around the life of an Indian soldier and portrays how faujis are fighting for the country on the border.

FAU-G was launched on January 26, India’s 72nd Republic Day, The graphics of the game are impressive for a title that is not more than half a gigabyte in download size. The game is based on real scenarios encountered by the Indian security forces while dealing with both foreign threats and domestic. In the storyline, players will be in the Galwan Valley map. Because there were no guns used during the real-life incident, the game also features only hand-to-hand combat and specialized weapons in the story mode. Contrasting the popular war game apps in the market, the game’s storyline is in Hindi and Tamil with English subtitles and will be available in other Indian languages going forward.

  • Authenticity: FAUG’s main campaign puts players in the shoes of an Army soldier in the Galwan Valley. Therefore, the game doesn’t feature any guns and, instead, focuses on hand-to-hand combat owing to bilateral agreements formed in 1996 that prevent Indian or Chinese troops from using firearms within 2km from the line of actual control.
  • Powerful, witty dialogues: The nCore have clearly spent a good chunk of time working on the game’s audio. To that place, the protagonist keeps the players busy in the game by dishing out some quality insults to the opposition’s troops.
  • Accessibility: Even as most high-end games require a top-of-the-line smartphone to run smoothly, FAUG should run seamlessly on affordable Android handsets too. In fact, the game doesn’t require a lot of storage space either (download size is around 500MB); however, that could soon change should the developers launch the PvP and Battle Royale modes for the same.

Conclusion

After months of anticipation, the FAUG game has finally been released in India. Going forward, there will be many more updates like players will be able to play in teams of 5, collaborate and unite to fight enemies. Anyways, the developers must be appreciated for their efforts and hope that they will improve more and more features in the coming time.
